Aspirations high
Above beautiful treetops
Where all dreams reside.
Sometimes during my nature walks, I feel an inspiration to compose a haiku poem to go with one of my photos. For me, it’s a personal exercise in creative writing that can add another dimension to my photography.
The inspiration for this haiku came in a forest preserve when I was marveling at the bright orange maple leaves overhead. As I looked up, I thought, “What else makes me to look upward?” These thoughts came to mind:
- Set your aspirations high
- Let your imagination soar
- Dream big
- The sky’s the limit
With those concepts as a starting point, I took a little time after my walk and penned the haiku above. The main challenge was how to relate aspirations and dreams to a maple tree with bright, beautiful, orange leaves in the condensed format of a haiku (5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables). All said and done, I think I accomplished my task splendidly.
